In a small village during 18th century Korea, a small cat begins on a journey. The cat walks across the neighbourhood still asleep in the early morning, to the front of the village. A sacred tree stands, a gateway for the cat to transition into the afterlife. The cat ventures through the luxurious and fantastical garden of the afterlife, searching for something. Finally, the cat arrives in a grassy field protected by a guardian. Despite the intimidating appearance, the guardian is easily overcome as the cat climbs up, rubs itself on the guardian’s face in a friendly exchange, and leaves the guardian sneezing uncontrollably. The cat uses this chance to sneak past the guardian into the protected field full of glowing flowers. The cat carefully picks one with its mouth, and quickly makes its way back – through the garden of the afterlife, back to the sacred tree, across the neighbourhood… and continues into the back edge of the village that connects into a wild hill. There stands a lone hut, small and old. The cat goes through a large hole in the falling-apart door, and finally stops in front of a dead human body. The cat climbs up and drops the glowing flower on the dead human’s chest before curling up to lie down. After a moment, life returns to the human and the cat is rewarded with a gentle pat.
