Since 2012, Film Fund Luxembourg has offered a support mechanism for audiovisual productions.
National Audiovisual Production Aid (AFS) is a selective programme that provides discretionary loans to producers to finance script development and writing, distribution and production/co-oproduction of drama, animation, documentaries, short films, transmedia and XR projects.
Applications are assessed by a selection committee on the basis of cultural, social and economic criteria. There are 4 to 5 deadlines per year.
The Film Fund Luxembourg was created in 1990 and restructured in 1999. It exists primarily to promote and foster an environment in which the country's film production industry can develop and flourish. The Fund, an official body under the supervision of the Minister for Audiovisual and the Minister for Culture, implements the State's overall support policy for audiovisual productions. It manages the programme through which the Luxembourg government provides financial support for audiovisual productions.
