Luxembourg co-production "All We Imagine as Light" nominated at the Golden Globes 2025
The film All We Imagine As Lightdirected by Indian filmmaker Payal Kapadia, a co-production of Les Films Fauves (Gilles Chanial and Govinda Van Maele), received two nominations at the Golden Globes 2025: Best Direction and Best Foreign Language Film. La 82e Golden Globes ceremony, organised by Hollywood Foreign Press Association, will take place on 5 January 2025.
Co-produced by France, India, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, the film has already won over audiences and critics alike, winning the Grand Prize at the Cannes Festival 2024. The same year, it also won the award for Best Film at the San Sebastián International Film Festival and has had an outstanding career at festivals such as Toronto, London and Rotterdam.
With these two new nominations, Luxembourg strengthens its place on the international scene, bringing the total number of Luxembourgish nominations at the Golden Globes to 12. The film, released in Luxembourg cinemas last September, tells the story of three women from different backgrounds in Mumbai, exploring the themes of friendship, solidarity and female resilience. Prabha, a nurse, finds her routine turned upside down by an unexpected gift from her absent husband. Anu, her young flatmate, struggles to find a place to live out her forbidden love, while Parvaty, an elderly widow, faces eviction from her home by developers. Their destinies intersect on a journey out of the city, where they find a place to express their aspirations and resist societal oppression.
