Missing Pictures

MISSING PICTURES consists of 5 episodes, starring Abel Ferrara (USA),Tsai Ming-Liang (Taïwan), Catherine Hardwicke (USA), Lee Myung-Se (South Korea) and Naomi Kawase (Japan). For every movie made, dozens of pictures remain missing forever. MISSING PICTURES gives directors a chance to tell the story that would otherwise never be told. Each episode invites one filmmaker to narrate some key points of the movie, why the movie was so important for them at the time and why it was never made. The filmmakers are shot with volumetric cameras and encrusted into the VR experience, using custom-designed animation based on pre-existing material from the unmade work. Another history of cinema then takes shape, shedding light on the rest of the director’s filmography.
