Luxembourg City Film Festival
Supported by the Ministry of Culture, the City of Luxembourg and the Film Fund Luxembourg, the festival offers a varied and stimulating programme every year. Over eleven days, it offers a wide range of international films, productions made in/with Luxembourg, special screenings and events for young audiences.
In 2024, the festival welcomed 366 international guests and professionals, and also organised events outside the cinemas, such as themed evenings, workshops, exhibitions and concerts in various cultural institutions in the capital.
Since 2012, the festival has awarded prizes in various categories, including drama, documentary and young audience, and since 2021 in the XR category.
In 2022, the Luxembourg City Film Festival was selected by the American magazine Moviemakers as one of the 25 most remarkable festivals in the world. In 2022 a new prize was added, the 2030 Award, which rewards a work in the field of Cooperation. In 2023, the Critics' Prize became the International Critics' Prize in association with the FIPRESCI organisation.
The festival is also a co-founder of the Europa Film Festivals network, which currently comprises 11 European events, and currently holds the presidency of this federation.
With 35,664 participants in 2024, including almost 20,000 spectators in theatres, the Luxembourg City Film Festival is an essential pillar of Luxembourg's cultural agenda and is firmly established among European festivals.
