Venice Mostra
La Mostra, founded in 1932, is the oldest film festival in the world. Part of the wider organisation of the Venice Biennale, a cultural festival dedicated to contemporary art, the Mostra is its section dedicated to cinema. Alongside the Cannes Festival and the Berlin Festival, Venice is one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world.
The Venice International Film Festival takes place every September in the historic Palazzo del Cinema on the Lungomare Marconi on Venice Lido.
The films are presented in different sections: the competition, whose main prize is the Golden Lion, the Out of Competition and Orizzonti sections, the classic films (Venice Classics) and the retrospectives (80!).
Since 2012, a film market The five-day festival brings together international distributors, retailers and producers.
To mark the 81e edition of the festival, La Biennale will be organising the Venice Production Bridge (VPB), with a focus on French-speaking Belgium and Luxembourg from 29 August to 3 September 2024. The Film Fund Luxembourg will be represented with a joint stand. Wallonia, Brussels & Luxembourg.
It has been held in parallel since 2017, Venice Immersivethe section of the festival devoted entirely to immersive content, with its first official competition for works in virtual reality.
