13th Rencontres de la Coproduction Francophone in Montreal as part of the CINEMANIA Festival
A Luxembourg delegation made up of representatives of the Fonds national de soutien à la production audiovisuelle and Luxembourg production companies (Samsa Film, Paul Thiltges Distributions, Wady Films, Deal Productions, Espera Productions, Calach Films, Iris Productions and a_Bahn) travelled to Montreal from 8 to 11 November 2016 to take part in the... 13th Rencontres de la Coproduction Francophone*.
The event, initiated by SODEC (Société de développement des entreprises culturelles) in close collaboration with its various French-speaking partners (including the Fund), brought together nearly 230 film professionals. Projects were presented in the form of video pitches to partners, experts and support funds from French-speaking countries. The meetings also included workshops on distribution and virtual reality.
It was also a great opportunity for public institutions to advance joint projects at the level of the French-speaking world via discussion platforms.
Representatives of the Fund and their Canadian counterparts from the Department of Canadian Heritage also worked on finalising the new audiovisual co-production treaty between Canada and the Grand Duchy, which will be signed before the end of the year and will definitively replace the old agreement dating from 1996. The new version has been drawn up taking into account commercial practices and technological changes that have occurred over time.
The Luxembourg co-production "Souvenir", directed by Bavo Defurne and co-produced by Deal Productions, has been selected at the CINEMANIA French Film Festival which was held as part of these meetings.
