Signing of an agreement between SODEC and Film Fund Luxembourg

Cannes, 16 May 2026 – The Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC) and the Film Fund Luxembourg (FFL) signed a three-year cooperation agreement last Saturday in Cannes. This aims to establish a joint strategic collaboration to stimulate the creation, production, and distribution of film, television, and digital creation works between the two territories. This agreement was signed by Louise Lantagne, President and CEO of SODEC, Guy Daleiden, Director of the Film Fund Luxembourg, as well as Mathieu Lacombe, Quebec’s Minister of Culture and Communications, and Eric Thill, Luxembourg’s Minister of Culture, acting as honorary witnesses.

«The vitality of Quebec's audiovisual industry is a priority for the Quebec government. By strengthening its attractiveness, we are supporting a sector that carries our stories, our culture, and our collective pride. I am therefore delighted with the signing of this co-production agreement with creators and producers from Luxembourg, which opens the way for promising collaborations,» stated Mr. Mathieu Lacombe, Minister of Culture and Communications.

«This agreement solidifies the cultural and economic ties between Luxembourg and Quebec, and should allow artisans and professionals in the audiovisual sector from Quebec and Luxembourg to generate new opportunities to develop projects, showcase them in their respective markets, and join forces to market them internationally,» said Louise Lantagne, President and CEO of SODEC.

For its part, Luxembourg highlighted the importance of this partnership in fostering artistic exchanges and cooperation between audiovisual industries.

In a transitional audiovisual landscape, this agreement with Quebec will offer new opportunities for professionals in the audiovisual sector to develop ambitious international projects,» rejoiced Eric Thill, Minister of Culture.

«Quebec is the only territory outside Europe with which Luxembourg regularly coproduces. This privileged relationship is explained by a strong cultural affinity and a shared desire to support ambitious projects from the earliest stages of development. This new agreement will consolidate an already fruitful collaboration and pave the way for even more audacious coproductions,» added Guy Daleiden, Director of Film Fund Luxembourg.

Through this agreement, SODEC and Film Fund Luxembourg undertake, in particular, to provide financial support for the co-development and co-production of ambitious works, to promote them in their respective territories, and to encourage participation in professional networking activities. The measures described in this agreement will be implemented as part of an action plan.
Let us also recall that Quebec and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg signed an agreement on cultural cooperation in October 2021, aimed at supporting initiatives and encouraging cooperation as well as cultural and expertise exchanges.
