Berlinale 2019: Luxembourg co-productions galore

La Berlinale 2019The Berlin International Film Festival, Europe's first major competitive film festival, will feature 2 productions made in Luxembourg. From 7 to 17 February, the 69th Berlin International Film Festival will be held in the German capital, with a host of professionals from the audiovisual sector taking the opportunity to discover the best film productions currently on the market.
Two Luxembourg co-productions selected as world premieres in the "Panorama" section will represent the Grand Duchy:
– Tembloresthe second feature film by director Jayro Bustamante (winner of the 2015 Silver Bear), a co-production ofIris Productions
The film follows the life of Pablo, an evangelical Christian and father of two in Guatemala City. But when he suddenly falls in love with a man, his world begins to fall apart when his family decides to "cure" him through therapy with the help of the church.
– Flatlanda feature film directed by Jenna Bass and co-produced by Deal Productions
A road movie about friendship, female self-determination and the social structures of a divided nation.
In addition, the feature film Hinterland (Amour Fou Luxembourg) directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky, is one of 22 projects selected for the 16e edition of the Berlinale co-production market and will be presented to a panel of co-producers, experts, distributors and international financial partners. The volume of purchases negotiated at the market makes Berlin the second-largest film market after Cannes.
