Creation of a fund to support young French-speaking artists in sub-Saharan Africa
On the occasion of the Francophone Film Awards in Yaoundé (Cameroon), the Film Fund Luxembourg and its partners1 have joined forces to create the first fund to support young creative talent in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa.2 and Haiti.
The Film Fund Luxembourg and its partners co-finance this fund, which is aimed at writers, directors and producers. It promotes the dynamism of creation in the broadest sense: cinema, audiovisual series and web content, whatever the stage of development of the project.
A committee made up of professionals swill be responsible for selecting the winning projects. These projects may benefit from a writing residency for their authors, a cash contribution towards the production of the film, or post-production services and coaching. Thanks to the involvement of broadcasters in the scheme, the question of distribution of the projects will be assessed at an early stage.
For the first three years, the fund will be managed by the Generation Films collective, based in Burkina Faso. Applications can now be submitted online at www.jeunecreationfrancophone.org. Applications are due to close on 1er March 2018.
