4 works in Official Competition: 2 feature films, 1 short film and one VR work

Marcel and Monsieur Pagnol - Sylvain Chomet

Co-produced by France, Belgium and Luxembourg (Bidibul Productions), this feature-length film retraces the life of Marcel Pagnol, an emblematic figure in French literature and cinema. From his childhood in Provence to his involvement in the Second World War, via the founding of his own film studios, the film pays tribute to a pioneer of talking pictures.
The 2D animation, sets and layout were produced in Luxembourg by Doghouse Studio, while sound post-production was entrusted to Philophon Studios. A sneak preview is scheduled during the Special Sessions at the Cannes Film Festival 2025, before a theatrical release in Luxembourg in the autumn.

Allah is not obliged - Zaven Najjar

Adapted from the novel by Ahmadou Kourouma, Zaven Najjar's first feature film is a co-production between France, Luxembourg, Belgium and Canada.
The Luxembourg part was produced by Paul Thiltges Distribution.swith layout, compositing, animation and special effects produced at the Fabrique d'Images studio in Differdange. Philophon also handled the sound post-production.

A Walk into the Afterlife - Jiyun Jeong

Selected in the category Young AudiencesThis poetic short film is the work of Jiyun Jeonga young filmmaker from South Korea and New Zealand who graduated from the University of Luxembourg with a Bachelor's degree in animation. Supported by the A Fund Luxembourg film as part of the "Carte Blanche" programme, the film marks the first international recognition for this emerging director, who is currently working as a 3D animator in Luxembourg. The film was produced by the Luxembourg company Doghouse Films.

Ito Meikyu - Boris Labbé

Shortlisted in the VR category, this virtual reality film was co-produced in Luxembourg by Les Films Fauves and Sacrebleu Productions (France). Last year it won the Venice Immersive Grand Prize at the Venice Film Festival.


Annecy Présente: Luxembourg in the spotlight too!

In addition to the competition, three other films co-produced in Luxembourg will be screened in the section "Annecy PresentsThis non-competitive showcase has been open to films from all over the world since 2024:
