The International Animation Film Market (MIFA), which took place from 13 to 16 June as part of the International Animation Film Festival (12 to 18 June), is the world's leading annual event for professionals and enthusiasts of the moving image in all its forms, with over 9,000 accredited visitors from 85 countries.

The Fund was represented there for the 17e Once again, the Luxembourg animation industry was represented with a promotional stand featuring 15 Luxembourg animation companies (production, studios, service providers). Its director, Guy Daleiden, was on hand to meet animation professionals, representatives of the FMAIV (Fédération luxembourgeoise des Métiers de l'Animation et de l'Image Virtuelle) and students and teachers from the BTS Dessin d'animation programme at the Lycée des Arts et Métiers de Luxembourg, who had a stand in the new market area.

At the traditional "speed dating" meetings, students from the Lycée des Arts et Métiers had the opportunity to present their talents to professionals in the animation industry with a view to a possible work placement or recruitment.

The Fund also organised co-production meetings on its stand with its partners from Wallonie Bruxelles Images (BE), the Rhônes Alpes region (FR), Animation Germany (DE) and SODEC - Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (CA).

Testifying to the sector's dynamism, 10 feature-length animated films co-produced by Luxembourg production companies are due to hit cinemas in 2017/2018: "Bayala" (Fabrique d'Images), "Croc Blanc" (Bidibul Productions), "Drôles de petites bêtes" (Bidibul Productions), "Funan, le peuple nouveau" (BAC Cinéma), "Les Hirondelles de Kaboul" (Melusine Productions), "Le Prince de la Cité de Sable" (Iris Productions), "Luis and these Aliens" (Fabrique d'Images), "Pachamama" (Doghouse Films), "The Breadwinner" (Melusine Productions), "Zero Impunity" (a_BAHN/Melusine Productions).

The feature film " Richard the Stork "by Toby Genkel and Reza Memari (Melusine Productions) - selected out of competition.

Ernest & Célestine, The Collection Blizzard "by Julien Chheng and Jean-Christophe Roger (Melusine Productions) and " Bible, the founding stories - Babel, the tale of totalitarian madness "by Sean McCormack (Fabrique d'Images) - in competition in the 'Television Films' category.

The Breadwinner "directed by Nora Twomey (Melusine Productions) and " Zero Impunity "directed by Stéphane Hueber-Blies, Nicolas Blies and Denis Lambert (a_BAHN/Melusine Productions)". - presented as Work in Progress.

The feature film " Funny little animals "by Antoon Krings and Arnaud Bouron (Bidibul Productions) - world premiere in the "event screenings".
