We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Armand Strainchamps, a multi-talented artist known not only for his paintings and sculptures, but also for his work as a film producer, scriptwriter and director.

Armand Strainchamps will remain an emblematic figure in the national audiovisual sector for having contributed to the growth and development of our cinematographic heritage at a time when Grand-Ducal cinema was in its infancy. He was awarded a national honour in 2002.

In 1988, he worked with director Andy Bausch on the film "Troublemaker", before going on to make a number of documentary films, including "Diddeleng - 100 Joër, 100 Gesiichter", a film about the history of his home town, written and directed with Beryl Koltz, for which they were awarded a "Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis" in 2009.

Leaving us too soon at the age of 68, Armand Strainchamps leaves a great void in the world of national cinema.

The Film Fund Luxembourg team sends its most sincere condolences to his family and friends.
