The Minister for Culture, Eric Thill, visits the Berlinale and its film market
A visit to the international film market, which attracts more than 12,000 professionals, marked the start of a series of strategic exchanges and meetings between the Minister for Culture, Eric Thill, and key players in the film industry in France. Berlin Festival.
During his meeting with representatives of French- and German-speaking support funds, the Minister reaffirmed Luxembourg's commitment to strategic film cooperation, both bilateral and multilateral.
In an exchange with Carine Bachmann, Director of the Swiss Federal Office of Culture, the Minister confirmed that the Film Fund Luxembourg will be organising a co-production meeting between Swiss and Luxembourg producers in 2025 to discuss future prospects for cultural collaboration between the two countries. It was also decided to adapt the Luxembourg-Switzerland co-production treaty to incorporate new and innovative audiovisual formats, such as virtual reality, immersive works and television series.
The Minister also attended the traditional Luxembourg reception, organised by the Film Fund Luxembourg in collaboration with theLuxembourg Embassy in Berlinwhich brought together nearly 400 professionals from the film industry and other cultural and economic sectors. It was an opportunity for enriching exchanges, particularly with the directors, producers and protagonists of the six Luxembourg co-productions in the selection.
In his speech, Eric Thill underlined the importance of building on the solid relationships that bind Luxembourg to its long-standing and loyal partners, and of trusting them in these uncertain times.
Eric Thill attended the screening of the Luxembourg co-production Reflection in a dead diamond, co-produced by Les Films Fauves, in competition at the Berlinale, and took part in the presentation of the film Confidente, co-produced by Bidibul Productions.
This year's edition of the Berlinale highlights six films co-produced with LuxembourgThis is further proof of the dynamism and recognition of national expertise in the film industry. The Minister said: "It is an honour for me to take part for the first time in the Berlinale and in the European Film Marketa key event for international cinema. The dynamism and commitment of our film talent are exemplary, and I would like to congratulate them on their remarkable work. In a constantly changing world, 7e Art plays an essential role as a window on the world and a vehicle for our values and convictions.
