Angoulême Festival 2019: "Les hirondelles de Kaboul" wins 2 prizes including the prestigious Valois de diamant

Double success for the animated feature The Swallows of Kabul directed by Zabou Breitman and Éléa Gobbé-Mévellec and co-produced in Luxembourg by Stéphan Roelants de Melusine Productions who wins :
- Diamond Valois for Best Film
- The Valois de la musique award for composer Alexis Rault.
This is the second time in its history that the Festival has rewarded an animated film, after "My life as a courgette by Claude Barras, Valois de diamant in 2016.
As a reminder: Luxembourg was in the spotlight at this year's 12e edition of the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival (20 to 25 August 2019) with a tribute to Luxembourg cinema. Six feature films, one documentary and two short films from Luxembourg were in the spotlight, demonstrating the diversity and richness of the country's audiovisual sector.
A special tribute was paid to the career of Luxembourg screenwriter, director and producer Pol Cruchten.
To show their support for the audiovisual production sector, Xavier Bettel, Prime Minister and Minister for Communications and Media, travelled to Angoulême for the opening of the festival, and Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess attended the Luxembourg Day and the closing ceremony.
