Films made in Luxembourg: festive special on RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg
As in 2014, for the festive season, RTL and the NAC, in collaboration with the Lëtzebuerger Filmfong and the Filmakademie, are offering a special "Films Made in Luxembourg" programme.
From 18 December to 2 January, RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg will be broadcasting Luxembourg productions every day: films, documentaries, archives and animated series for children. This year, the programme will be specially dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Lëtzebuerger Filmfong.
2015 saw another Luxembourg animation film nominated for an Oscar. Following on from "Mr Hublot" and "Ernest et Célestine" in 2014, "Song of the Sea" was thus able to confirm international recognition of the quality of films "made in Luxembourg". This boom in the Luxembourg film industry was underlined by the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Lëtzebuerger Filmfong.
Among the great classics of the last 25 years, audiences can look forward to the rebroadcast on RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg of Andy Bausch's film "Le Club des Chômeurs" on 25 December, Pol Cruchten's "Perl oder Pica" on Tuesday 22 December and Christophe Wagner's "Luxemburg-USA" on Tuesday 29 December at 8pm.
The Luxembourg version of "Song of the Sea", a poetic masterpiece, "D'Melodie vum Mier" will be broadcast on Saturday 26 December. Children will also be in for a treat with the rebroadcast of the 2012 hit "D'Schatzritter an d'Geheimnis vum Melusina" on Monday 28 December, as well as the daily broadcast of the Tirlitivi - Planet Kids programme featuring their favourite Luxembourg animated series including "De Percy a seng Frënn", "Déi Duerchdriwwen Dräi" and "Zolli a Pucki".
Nostalgia will be in the air again on 24 December with an evening of old sketches broadcast over thirty years ago on RTL, selected from the archives of the Centre National de l'Audiovisuel.
A number of Luxembourg documentaries will round off RTL's special programme: 'Succès Fo(u)x' by Désirée Nosbusch, a wonderful tribute to the actor Fernand Fox; 'Cello Tales', Anne Schiltz's documentary on the fascinating instrument that is the cello; 'E Futtballspill am Schnéi' by Anne Schiltz and Tom Alesch in memory of the writer Roger Manderscheid; and finally a major sports documentary produced by RTL: "MullAce", by Nico Keiffer and Tom Zeimet, goes behind the scenes of an exceptional year for Gilles Muller, Luxembourg's top tennis player.
From 18 December to 2 January, RTL will be showcasing its new series 'routwäissgro' every evening at 6.30pm, produced by 'Kollektiv 13', a group of Luxembourgish writer-directors. Fans of the genre will be able to re-watch all the episodes broadcast since the series' launch in February 2015. For the occasion, the first episode of the series "De Jupp oder déi wonnerprächteg Liichtegkeet vum Liewen", directed by Claude Lahr, has been edited into an "XXL" long version of 52 minutes, to allow the public to discover other facets of the main character through previously unseen scenes.
