Francophone Film Development Fund
Following the announcement made at the Cannes Film Festival last May, Telefilm Canada, the Société de Développement des Entreprises Culturelles, the Centre du Cinéma et de l'Audiovisuel de la Communauté française de Belgique, the Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée français, the Film Fund luxembourgeois in partnership with the Office fédéral de la Culture suisse are pleased to launch today the call for projects for the Fonds Francophone d'Aide au Développement Cinématographique.
The Fund will strengthen creative exchanges for French-language fiction feature films. It is open to feature-length fiction film projects involving at least one Canadian producer and one European producer from Belgium, France, Luxembourg or Switzerland, with the partners wishing to step up their support for transatlantic projects. The fund will be endowed with an annual budget of €300,000, and each selected project may be awarded up to €40,000. This sum will be used to cover the development costs incurred for the project. Projects will be selected by a jury made up of representatives from each of the partners.
The fund will be managed by the Festival International du Film Francophone de Namur, which will be responsible for receiving applications, administration and coordinating the jury.
The call for entries, launched on 5 October 2009, will close on 1 December. The results of this first session will be announced at the Berlin International Film Festival.
