Guy Daleiden, Director of the Fonds national de soutien à la production audiovisuelle and Jean-Louis Scheffen, Chairman of the Selection Committee unveiled their figures for 2016.

62 projects received selective financial support totalling €36,118,994. 32 projects received support for writing and/or development (i.e. € 1,340,400) and 30 projects (including 1 transmedia project and a virtual reality project) received production support (i.e. € 34,778,594).

The Fund also granted €152,361 in promotional aid and €138,224 in various grants to the sector. 5 grants were awarded to authors, totalling €47,500.

As part of its promotional mission, the Fund has been present at various international markets and forums and has taken part in economic prospecting missions. In order to support the distribution of our audiovisual heritage abroad, Luxembourg embassies organised, with the cooperation of the Fund, numerous screenings of films made in Luxembourg.

The 7e edition of the "Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis" prize for Luxembourg cinema has crowned the film "Eng nei Zäit" by Christophe Wagner (Samsa Film) as the best Luxembourg film, along with many other talents.   

As part of its partnership with RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg, the 3e season of the documentary series "routwäissgro" by 13 independent Luxembourg writer-directors grouped together under the name "Kollektiv 13" and produced by Calach Films will be broadcast from 15 October on Luxembourgish television. The 2e season of "Tirlitivi - Planet Kids" will also be available soon.

The launch of the VOD.lu platform with Filmakademie and UniversCiné lived up to all its promises in 2016, and VOD.lu is planning a subscription offer similar to that of Netflix in the coming months.

In terms of virtual reality, the first winner of the Virtelio Award launched at Cannes this year, will be announced on 21 November at the Paris Courts Devant Festival.

"On the film sets there's a buzz: 5 shoots are currently underway, the animation studios are working at full speed and no fewer than 15 films are in post-production: Sixty8", the latest documentary by Andy Bausch (Paul Thiltges Distributions), "Fashion Geek", a documentary webseries (a_Bahn) in a special screening at Mudam as part of Lux Fashion Week, "Toy Gun" (Calach Films) and the animated film "Drôles de Petites Bêtes" (Bidibul Productions)," added the Fund's director.
