The Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis 2021 introduces a number of major new features, including :
THE INTRODUCTION OF TWO-ROUND VOTING
The two-round voting system brings the Filmakademie into line with other European film academies and the Oscars. Previously, a pre-selection committee chose the nominees for the Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis; the members of the Filmakademie then voted in a single round to decide the winner of each award.
From now on, it is the members themselves who vote from among all the eligible productions, in the first round. This first round of voting now determines the nominations.
Members then vote in a second round to determine the winner in each award category. Those with the most votes will be awarded the Filmpräis 2021.
The very notion of "nomination" takes on its full value and prestige here, since it is made by all the members of the Academy, and the number of nominees per category is limited to a maximum of five.
The nominations will be announced at a press conference in the autumn.
