Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis: 9th edition launched and nominations announced

Guy Daleiden, Director of the Film Fund Luxembourg, and Yann Tonnar, President of the Luxembourg Film Academy (d'Filmakademie), officially launched the 9^e edition of the Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis, with the prize-giving ceremony taking place on Friday 26 November 2021, for the 3rd edition of the Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis.^e the Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg. The ceremony will be broadcast for the 1^re live for the public on www.rtl.lu and www.filmprais.lu

For this 2021 edition, the Academy in charge of organising the vote has introduced a number of major innovations, including the introduction of 2-ballot voting and new prize categories:

• The Best Music Award
• The Best Actress Prize, introduced at the last edition, has now been split into two, becoming the Best Actress Prize and the Best Actor Prize.

With its two-round voting system, the Academy is bringing itself into line with other European film academies. This year, its 400 members will vote in the first round among the eligible productions. This first round of voting now determines the nominations in the various award categories.

After the 1^er The first round of voting closed on 15 October, and Academy members are now invited to vote until midnight on 19 November for the second round to determine the winner in each of the 13 categories.

The results will be announced on 26 November at the presentation of the trophies created in 2003 by Luxembourg artist Patricia Lippert.

In addition to the new prizes to be voted for by members, a prize will be awarded for the best XR (extended reality) work by an ad hoc jury of 3 international professionals, and a special prize will be awarded by the Luxembourg Film Press Association.
