The Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis at GoodBye Monopol 2
Against a backdrop of graffiti, street art and urban art, the 6th edition of the Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis will take place on 7 March at GoodBye Monopol 2!
The director of the Film Fund Luxembourg, Guy Daleiden, and Claude Waringo, president of the Luxembourg film academy "d'Filmakademie", officially launched the 6th edition of the "Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis", recalling that the Film Prize is a joint initiative of the public authorities and organisations of Luxembourg film professionals, which aims to reward the best contributions to Luxembourg cinema, Its aim is to reward the best contributions to Luxembourg cinema, in order to highlight quality works, encourage cinematographic creation, promote the development of the film industry in Luxembourg and draw the public's attention to Luxembourg productions.
The awards ceremony will take place on Friday 7 March at GoodBye Monopol 2 in Luxembourg City and will be hosted by Gabriel Boisanté.
The prizes will no longer be awarded by a jury as in the past, but by the film industry professionals who are members of the Filmakademie, in the form of an online vote. Created in 2012 on the initiative of the associations of film technicians (ALTA), directors and scriptwriters (LARS), actors (ACTORS.LU) and producers (ULPA), the Filmakademie brings together film industry professionals and personalities who have joined forces to raise the profile of Luxembourg cinema among the general public and serve as a body for consultation between the sector's representative members.
For this 6th edition, 15 short films, 24 co-productions, 3 Luxembourg feature films, 10 documentaries and 4 animated films will be in the running to win a trophy. A total of 100 professionals from the audiovisual sector are nominated for the prize for the best artistic contribution and the prize for the best technical contribution.
The "filmprais.lu" blog has been relaunched for this 6th edition: it will serve as a press kit with all the information on the films in the running.
Guy Daleiden also welcomed the organisation - as part of the "Discovery Zone Luxembourg City Film Festival", which will run in parallel from 28 February to 9 March 2014 - of an evening of short films by young national talent and the screening of Luxembourg premieres of Luxembourg films and co-productions.
