A delegation made up of representatives of the Fonds national de soutien à la production/Film Fund Luxembourg, accompanied by 3 animation production companies (Fabrique d'Images, Doghouse Films, Zeilt productions), 2 fiction production companies (Tarantula Luxembourg, Calach Films) and the Luxembourg virtual reality start-up Realab, took part in the diplomatic and multi-sectoral mission to Tokyo organised as part of the State visit of HRH the Grand Duke to Japan.

Following the last visit to the Land of the Rising Sun in 2014, the objectives of the film professionals were to renew contacts with established relationships and to promote Luxembourg productions to local distributors with a view to their distribution on the Asian market. The aim was also to open new doors to artistic collaborations with publishing houses, authors and producers, and to raise awareness among Japanese professionals of the 'know-how' of our audiovisual production sector, particularly animation.

70 Japanese professionals attended the seminar entitled "Film production made in Luxembourg - a focus on animation" organised by the Fund in Luxembourg. French Institute of Japan in collaboration with Unijapan (an organisation promoting the Japanese audiovisual sector), the Chamber of Commerce of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office in Tokyo (LTIO).

"Visits to animation studios and one-to-one interviews have shown us that Japanese professionals are still very interested in European audiovisual production in general, and Luxembourg in particular. The sector hopes to be able to develop closer relations between the two countries, which have enjoyed close ties for 90 years", said Guy Daleiden, Director of the Fund.
