As part of the 74e edition of the Cannes Festival that the Luxembourg film industry will be meeting again this year from 6 to 15 July for the 18e Once again, Luxembourg was represented by its pavilion in the international village of the film market, with around twenty companies from the audiovisual sector. The vast majority of Luxembourg filmmakers, producers and journalists made the trip to the Croisette.

During the traditional Luxembourg Day, all the professionals present were thanked for the work they have accomplished since the start of the pandemic and for the fine selections and prizes they have won, including the Golden Bear at the Berlinale 2021.

In terms of the Festival's official selections, it's a double for Samsa Film (Jani Thiltges) with on the one hand Les Intranquilles by Joachim Lafosse (feature film in competition) and Where is Anne Frank by Ari Folman (out-of-competition animated feature - co-produced with Doghouse Studio), as well as a selection for Mélusine Productions (Stéphan Roelants) withLe summit of the gods by Patrick Imbert (animated feature film out of competition). With 3 world-premiere selections, it is the know-how, professionalism and dynamism of the 7mm industry that will be showcased.e Luxembourg art is once again in the spotlight.

Spotlight on Luxembourg actress Vicky Krieps, who plays a role in 3 films selected at Cannes, for honouring the Luxembourg pavilion with her presence.

In terms of international relations, the director of the Lëtzebuerger Filmfong, Guy Daleiden, and his Portuguese counterparts Luís Chaby Vaz and Maria Mineiro (resp. Chairman and Vice-Chairwoman of the Lëtzebuerger Filmfong), were in attendance. ICA Portugal - Instituto do Cinema e do Audiovisual) have signed an agreement designed to support the co-development of bilateral audiovisual projects and strengthen creative exchanges between Luxembourg and Portuguese film professionals.
