Luxembourg cinema in the spotlight at the 78th Cannes Festival: two co-productions open the official selections
The first announcements of the official selection of the 78e edition of the Cannes Festival have been revealed, and Luxembourg is off to a flying start with two co-productions on the bill. The feature film A SIMPLE ACCIDENTdirected by Jafar Panahi, enters the Official Competition. It is a co-production of Bidibul Productions (Christel Henon and Lilian Eche). At the same time, MARCEL ET MONSIEUR PAGNOL, an animated film by French director Sylvain Chomet, is in the Official Selection - Special Screening. This feature film is also co-produced by Bidibul Productions (Lilian Eche and Christel Henon), with French and Belgian partners.
MARCEL ET MONSIEUR PAGNOL is a poetic tribute to the world of Marcel Pagnol, revisited through the eyes of his child double. The film explores his memory and his career, closely linked to the major events of the 20th century and the development of cinema. This project was developed in Luxembourg by Lilian Eche in collaboration with Doghouse Studio (for layout, colour sets and 2D animation) and the studios Philophon (for sound post-production).
In order to promote Luxembourg's cinematographic creation on the international scene, the Film Fund Luxembourg will be actively present at Cannes from 13 to 22 May, via its pavilion in the International Village. This will bring together around twenty structures: production companies, firms specialising in post-production, sound or new technologies, as well as entities such as the EAVEthe Luxembourg City Film Festival or the Europe Créative - Media. Finally, the traditional Luxembourg Day will be held on Saturday 17 May, in the presence of the Minister for Culture, Eric Thill, numerous professionals from the audiovisual production sector and representatives of the press.
