Major recognition for 2 Luxembourg co-productions

The excellence and diversity of European animated films were rewarded on Saturday 8 December in Lille at the Emile Awards organised by European Animation Awards.

And Luxembourg - which entered the competition with 10 nominations - came out on top, winning 6 prizes out of the 18 allocated.

Funan by Denis Do, a co-production Bac Cinema (David Grumbach) with France, Belgium and Cambodia, wins 2 Emile Awards :

- Best screenplay
- Best sound design and dressing.

The Luxembourg animation studio Image Factory contributed to the making of the film, which has already won Best Film at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. 

The Breadwinner by Nora Twomey, a co-production Melusine Productions (Stéphan Roelants) with Ireland and Canada, winning 4 Emile Awards :

- Best direction
- Best storyboard
- Better character animation
- Best scenery and character design.

The Breadwinner has now completed an exceptional marathon around the world, garnering some fifty nominations (including at the Academy Awards, Golden Globes and European Film Awards) and 16 major international prizes (including the ACTRA Toronto Awards, FIFA Annecy and Annie Awards).
