Scheduled from 22 February to 4 March 2018, the 8th edition of the Luxembourg City Film Festival will be held at the Cinémathèque de la Ville de Luxembourg, Ciné Utopia, Kinepolis Kirchberg, Quartier General (now located at Casino Luxembourg - Forum d'Art Contemporain), Cercle Cité and many other cultural institutions.

The festival will be offering a varied programme with an incredible number of films, including exclusive premieres and special screenings, a top-flight fiction and documentary competition, a rich out-of-competition programme, a Young Audiences programme, cartes blanches, the traditional Hors les murs programme, workshops, etc.

A showcase for national production, the Luxembourg City Film Festival This year's event will be exceptionally topical. In addition to THE BREADWINNER (Official opening), GUTLAND by Govinda Van MAELE - from Luxembourg Les Films Fauves (Official Competition), LUIS AND THE ALIENS by Sean McCormack + Christoph and Wolfgang Lauenstein Image Factorys (Young Audiences), MARY SHELLEY by Haifaa Al-Mansour (BAC Cinema), you can discover the documentaries ASHCAN from Willy Perelsztejn (Nowhere Land Productions) and SCHAARZE MANN by Fränz Hausemer (Samsa Film).

Not forgetting the essential showcase event devoted to short films and this year's selection is as follows: ACHERON (Thoma Forgiarini), AND THEN YOU (Kim Schneider), ICE (Anna Hints), IRIDESCENCE (Eileen Byrne), MICH'S KITCHEN (Diane Nilles) and TRACES (Cecilia Guichart). For the first time, the Luxfilmfest will be opening its doors to television series, joining a trend that has been adopted by all film festivals. On show: the first two episodes of BAD BANKSa series co-produced by Iris Productions to be discovered exclusively before their television broadcasts on ZDF and ARTE in March.

A VIRTUAL REALITY PAVILION, WORKS AND GUESTS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD

Crowned with success in 2017, the VIRTUAL REALITY PAVILION will return to the Casino Luxembourg - Contemporary Art Forum with an even bolder programme. A selection of immersive films, the latest technologies and virtual reality experiences that go beyond simple 360° video will be on the menu. To celebrate and explore the possibilities offered by today's immersive technologies, the day of 22 February will be devoted to conferences featuring internationally renowned speakers and experts. The full programme will be unveiled at a press conference on Thursday 8 February as part of the new initiatives in VR and new technologies, announced Guy Daleiden, director of Filmfong, at the press conference held by the Festival organisers this morning.
