Luxembourg causes a sensation with 5 immersive works in competition at the 81st Venice Film Festival
Immersive design from Luxembourg is particularly in the spotlight this year at the Venice International Film Festival (Mostra di Venezia)which runs from 28 August to 7 September. A highlight of the international XR calendar, five immersive works from Luxembourg will be in competition:
This is my heart by Nicolas Blies and Stéphane Hueber-Blies: a mainly Luxembourg production by the company a_BAHN (François Le Gall and Marion Guth) including France.
Oto's Planet by Gwenael François: a mainly Luxembourg production by the company Skill Lab (Julien Becker) involving Quebec and France.
Mamie Lou by Isabelle Andréani: a co-production Skill Lab (Julien Becker) with France.
Ito Meikyu by Boris Labbé, a co-production Les Films Fauves (Gilles Chanial and Govinda Van Maele) with France.
Battlefield by François Vautier, a co-production Digital Voodooh (Fred Neuen and Mark Mertens) with France and Belgium.
The XR Competition Jury Venice Immersive made up of Celine Daemen, Marion Burger and Adriaan Lokman, will be awarding three prizes: the Grand Jury Prize, the Best Experience Prize and the Best Story Prize.
La Venice Immersive IslandXR, an island in Lazzaretto Vecchio specially dedicated to immersive works in all their forms, will be present again this year. It will bring together all the festival's XR activities, including immersive installations, viewing stations, conference and networking rooms, as well as a social space. This unique setting will host the world premieres of all the works presented there. The Film Fund Luxembourg will be represented with a joint stand with French-speaking Belgium under the name " The Center of Attraction.
Numerous XR projects co-produced with Luxembourg will also be presented at the Gap Financing Market, as part of the Venice Production Bridge (29 August - 3 September). This is the film market of the Venice International Film Festival, whose specificity lies in its focus on production and in offering a wide range of services, projects and networking opportunities to international audiovisual and immersive producers.
The official selection of classic films will be unveiled on 23 July at the Festival press conference!
