An ironic (and surprising) journey through Luxembourg's cinema sets Lecture illustrated by film extracts with Paul Lesch | Language: French | approx. 90'
Paul Lesch's talk takes us on a playful and often surprising expedition into a terra (in)cognita, a landscape that is as familiar as it is quirky - that of Luxembourg and its representations, or even makeovers, through film sets. The lecture is illustrated by film extracts.
Paul Lesch, who holds a doctorate in communication sciences, teaches history and cinema at the University of Luxembourg. He is the author of Heim ins Ufa-Reich ? NS-Filmpolitik und die Rezeption deutscher Filme in Luxemburg 1933-1944 (WVT, Trier, 2002) and Au nom de l'ordre public & des bonnes moeurs. Contrôle des cinémas et censure de films au Luxembourg 1895-2005 (CNA, Luxembourg, 2005). He is also the director of a documentary film about the American diplomat Perle Mesta, entitled Call Her Madam (Samsa Film, 1997).

National cinema in Luxembourg: a practicable theory? Presentation by Gérard Kraus followed by a round table discussion | Language: Lëtzebuergesch with French translation | approx. 90' Duration: 90 minutes
Gérard Kraus, a doctoral student in film studies, is currently researching the public presence and reception of Luxembourg cinema. A specialist in genre cinema and cult films, he has published articles on Luxembourg cinema and media culture.
The presentation will be followed by a round-table discussion and drinks.
