50 years of diplomatic relations between Luxembourg and Korea. National cinema in the spotlight
As part of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Luxembourg and Korea, the Embassy of the Grand Duchy and the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office in Korea, together with the Lëtzebuerger FilmFong and the CNA, organised a Luxembourg film week in Seoul. The Korean company Nexon, one of the world leaders in the development, publishing and creation of online video games, whose European headquarters are based in the Grand Duchy, actively supported this Luxembourg film week.
To mark this anniversary, 11 national co-productions, including 9 feature films and 2 documentaries, are being presented to the public. An exhibition of photos of the films will accompany the programme.
Guy Daleiden, Director of the Film Fund Luxembourg, and Paul Thiltges, President of the Union luxembourgeoise de la production audiovisuelle (ULPA), were invited to give a presentation on national cinema before the festival's opening ceremony. They also took the opportunity to promote national audiovisual production at several meetings organised by the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office with Korean directors, producers and distributors.
A meeting with the heads of the Korean Film Council gave participants a better understanding of each other's cinematography and enabled them to explore possible areas for future collaboration.
