CARTOON MOVIE, the co-production and pitching forum for animated feature films, has announced the finalists for the 2018 Cartoon Tributes, an award recognising a personality or company that has had a dynamic and positive influence on the European animated feature film industry this year. The professionals themselves will choose the director, distributor and producer of the year at Cartoon Movie, from 7 to 9 March.

Luxembourg will be particularly well represented this year thanks to the following nominations:

European director of the year: Nora Twomey (Ireland) for the film "Parvana" ("Parvana")The Breadwinner"), a co-production Melusine Productions.

European Distributor of the Year: Pro Films (Bulgaria), which distributed a.o. "Luis and the Aliens" (Image Factory) and Windmill Film (Netherlands), which distributed a.o. "Ernest & Célestine, the Collection" (Melusine Productions)

European Producer of the Year: lhe shortlist for the title includes Superprod (France) and Bidibul Productions (Luxembourg) for "Croc-Blanc"as well as A. Film Production (Denmark), which released 5 animated films between October 2017 and December 2018, i.e. 5 feature-length previews in just over a year don't "Luis and the Aliens"(Germany/Luxembourg/Denmark), co-produced by Image Factory (Luxembourg).

Eurimages co-production development prize:
The Council of Europe's Eurimages Fund has joined forces with ten co-production markets to award the Eurimages Prize for the Development of Co-production. This award was conceived as a promotional activity of the Fund with the aim of encouraging co-production from the very beginning of the project. 

Among the nominees: A Greyhound of a Girl, Paul Thiltges Distributions Luxembourgco-produced with The Illuminated Film Company (UK) and Aliante (Italy).

Cartoon Movie was set up in 1999 with the aim of encouraging the development of cross-border co-productions and cooperation, speeding up the financing and production process for films and facilitating their distribution at European and international level. Since its inception, Cartoon Movie has provided funding for more than 301 films, worth a total of €2 billion. Cartoon Movie is organised by CARTOON with the support of Creative Europe - MEDIA, the CNC (Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée), the Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Bordeaux Métropole, the Mairie de Bordeaux and the Pôle Image Magelis.
 
CARTOON is an international non-profit association based in Brussels. It organises Cartoon Movie, Cartoon Forum, a co-production forum dedicated to TV animation series, Cartoon Master training seminars and Cartoon Connection, a programme dedicated to exploring new ways of strengthening cooperation between professionals in the European Union and beyond.
