LuxFilmFest is also more than a hundred events, including numerous screenings at the Cinémathèque, Ciné Utopia and Utopolis. Around fifty films, including ten in competition and 19 selected for the Young Jury Prize. Workshops, themed evenings, very old films at Les Capucins and an ephemeral bar at the Cercle Cité... For the next two weeks, Luxembourg City will be living to the rhythm of the Luxembourg City Film Festival.
For Guy Daleiden, director of the Filmfund, the festival has educational virtues, as well as being "a formidable tool for promoting the Luxembourg film industry". The festival can create vocations, but also educate people about images. "We see thousands of images every day. Today, young people consume a lot of them and there are no tools to teach them to understand what they see. Here, we can educate adults and young people". This is an area in which the festival could "specialise in the future". (lessentiel.lu)
Practical information
The 20-euro Festival Pass gives access to all public screenings of the festival, excluding special events identified as such. Without the pass, tickets cost five euros per screening at the normal rate.
