A committed and necessary film

The members of the committee were deeply moved by the raw power of this drama, driven by a rare empathy that sincerely highlights the resilience of women in the face of invisible wounds. Carla Juri embodies her character with an intensity of great finesse: her presence on screen is so authentic that she draws us into the very heart of an intimate terror.

The Filmakademie and the Film Fund Luxembourg send their best wishes for success to Breathing Underwater for its performance at the 2026 Oscars.

The ceremony will take place on Sunday 15 March 2026.
