Once again this year, the Filmakademie has appointed a Selection Committee to choose the film that will represent Luxembourg at the 2024 Oscars in the "Best International Feature" category, as well as in the Goyas competition (the Spanish equivalent of the American Oscars) in the "Best European Feature" category.

For these two competitions, the Committee has chosen to enter the film Läif a Séildirected by Loïc Tanson and produced by Samsa Film. The members of the committee hail a particularly well-produced, controlled and powerful film that explores and fictionalises a period in Luxembourg's history. From the script to the cinematography and the acting talent of the largely Luxembourg cast, Loïc Tanson's first film has quality on every level.

Finally, the Selection Committee would like to highlight the rich and profound diversity of the Luxembourg films submitted. They are all interesting propositions offering a real plurality of genres.

Filmakademie and Film Fund Luxembourg wish the best of luck to Läif a Séil in its path to the Oscars and the Goyas 2024. The Oscars ceremony will take place on 10 March 2024, and the Goyas ceremony on 10 February 2024.
