Promoting cinema in Beijing
A delegation from the Luxembourg film industry, comprising Guy Daleiden, director of the Fonds national de soutien à la production audiovisuelle, director Christophe Wagner and producers Paul Thiltges, David Grumbach and Bernard Michaux, is currently visiting the 3rd Beijing International Film Festival in China to promote Luxembourg cinema and find out about existing production and distribution structures and mechanisms on the Chinese market.
As part of the festival, a Luxembourg Film Day was organised, featuring screenings of the feature films Doudege Wénkel, Pinocchio, The Road Uphill and the short film L'imparfait du subjectif. The filmmakers presented their films and answered questions from a very curious audience.
The Grand Duchy's ambassador to China, Carlo Krieger, had prepared a mission programme to give his Luxembourg guests a quick overview of the Chinese market. Targeted meetings, as well as a reception and dinner at the embassy residence, gave the Luxembourg visitors the opportunity to meet key figures in the Chinese film and audiovisual industry, and in particular Chinese producers working in the North American film industry.
The delegation also took part in a number of seminars, notably on co-productions and new technologies, which were held as part of the Beijing Festival, the second largest film festival in China.
