The first committee meeting for the new Fonds Jeune Création Francophone was held in Paris on 27 and 28 June. The fund has a budget of €524,000 and industry contributions of around €100,000, the Fund supported 24 projects for this first year.

From 14 countries (Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Comoros, Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Guinea, Haiti, Mauritius, Mali, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal and Togo), the diversity and quality of the projects submitted were praised by the selection committee, which is responsible for deciding on grants for development, production and post-production.

Support for projects is broken down as follows:
11 projects benefit from a development support 1 short film, 8 feature films and 2 series 
11 projects receive a cash support for production 1 short film, 1 52' documentary, 8 feature films and 1 animated series 
- 2 projects are accompanied in post-production

Born of a common desire between the Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée (CNC), the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, the Film Fund Luxembourgthe Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC), Telefilm Canada, TV5MONDE, Orange, France Télévisions, the SACD, the SACD Belgique and the SACD Canada, the Fonds Jeune Création Francophone is a support mechanism for film and audiovisual creation in French-speaking countries in sub-Saharan Africa and Haiti.

Its aim is to support the emergence of new directors and producers, and to accompany their projects through the development, production and/or post-production stages. Depending on the stage of development of the projects selected, they may benefit from a writing residency for their authors, a cash contribution towards the production of the film and/or coaching or post-production services.

As part of the aid granted at the development stage, and in view of the specific needs of the projects supported this year, partnerships have been set up with various residencies: the CECI at the Moulin d'Andé, the Résidence des écritures francophones in La Rochelle, the Groupe Ouest in Brittany (France), the CLOS (Créations Libres et Originales du Septième-art) in Bordeaux, the INIS in Montreal (Quebec), Sud Écriture (Tunisia) and the Ouaga Film Lab (Burkina Faso).
