Cannes 2022: Luxembourg co-productions honoured at "Un Certain Regard

With a record 6 official selections for this 75e edition of the Cannes FestivalLuxembourg did not go home empty-handed, winning 3 prizes in the "Un Certain Regard" selection: an exceptional year for outstanding talent!
Ahead of the presentation of the 2022 Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday evening, the jury of the "Un Certain Regard" selection, the Festival's first parallel section which showcases auteur cinema and new discoveries, rewarded 2 Luxembourg co-productions: CORSAGE by Marie Kreutzer (Samsa Film) and HARKA by Lotfy Nathan (Tarantula Luxembourg). The Luxembourg actress Vicky Krieps, who plays the role of the famous Empress of Austria in CORSAGE, a rebellious and feminist Sissi, won the "Sissi" award. Best performance award alongside French actor Adam Bessa, who plays Ali in HARKA, a young Tunisian who lives a precarious existence selling petrol on the black market, but who nevertheless dreams of a better life.
A 3e Prize was also awarded on the Croisette for Luxembourg, and it was again for the film CORSAGE which won the Best Sound Creation Prize* for the Luxembourg sound production team (Carlo Thoss/Alain Goniva) and the post-production team (Philophon Studios, Philippe Kohn/Michel Schillings) with a.o. Lieven Verbraeken, Loïc Collignon, Nicolas Leroy, Angelo Dos Santos, Philippe Deschamps, Vincent Maloumian and Ken Nnganyadi.
*This prize, created by the association Week of Sound aims to reward excellence in film sound "because it enhances the viewer's artistic, semantic and narrative perception".
Once again, this year's awards testify to the vitality of Luxembourg cinema, honoured at the Cannes Festival for its talent, know-how and expertise. It was an event that will live long in the memory, and one that will undoubtedly inspire our national filmmakers to even greater success!
