Following the success of the 2021 edition, Guy Daleiden, director of the Film Fund Luxembourg, and Ainhoa Achutegui, director of neimënster, this morning unveiled the ambitions of the VR Pavilion 2022, which will take place from 3 to 13 March 2022 as part of the 12e Luxembourg City Film Festival.

For the 5e his year, the Film Fund Luxembourg, in partnership with the PHI Centre in Montreal, which specialises in the distribution of immersive content, will be holding its Virtual Reality Pavilion in the vaulted cellars of neimënster, devoted to prestigious, award-winning works of XR cinema. This edition will also be made possible thanks to the support of Digital Luxembourg and other partners.

For the duration of LuxFilmFest, the public will be able to discover a dozen original and totally new experiences at neinënster in a high-quality scenographic context that will immerse them in the heart of the action. The facilities will be open to the public and every measure will be taken to ensure maximum health and safety.

A specially equipped VR cinema will also be showing a selection of 360° films, allowing visitors to be transported into the world of this incredible technology. 

As every year, the Pavillon's programme will showcase works produced or co-produced with Luxembourg, including The Assembly by Charlotte Bruneau (a Bidibul Productions co-production) to be seen at the Centre Culturel Opderschmelz, Le Bal de Paris by Blanca Li (a co-production Fabrique d'images) or Methamorphosis by Karolina Markiewicz and Pascal Piron, leading figures in the Luxembourg VR sector.

The works The End of Night by David Adleret Glimpse by Benjamin Cleary and Michael O'Connor, prizewinners at the Venice Biennale, but also The Book of Distance by Randall Okita or We are at home by Michelle and Uri Kranot, straight from the official selection of the Tribeca Festival, will be part of this top-of-the-range programme.

The VR Pavilion will also be the occasion for the Fund to organise its 4th edition on Thursday 3 March.e edition of the VR DayThis professional day will see national and international experts take stock of the XR situation after two years of the pandemic. 

From 14 March, the "VR to GOwill be making a comeback. Visitors to neimënster will once again be able to hire a virtual reality headset for 2 or 3 days, allowing them to watch all the VR Cinema works on show at the Pavilion in the comfort of their own homes. The VR headsets will be available at an affordable rental rate and will follow a strict sanitary protocol of disinfection with ultraviolet rays after each use.

It's also worth noting that LuxFilmFest has, for the 2e An experienced international jury will once again be in charge of a competition devoted exclusively to immersive works, which will award a prize of €4,000 to the best VR work.
