The 7th edition of the Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis will have a Grand Théâtre feel to it
Guy Daleiden, Director of the Film Fund Luxembourg, and Claude Waringo, President of the Luxembourg Film Academy "d'Filmakademie", officially launched the 7th edition of the Film Fund Luxembourg.e The Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis is a joint initiative of the public authorities and organisations representing professionals in the Luxembourg film industry. Its aim is to reward the best contributions to Luxembourg cinema, in order to highlight quality works, encourage cinematographic creation, promote the development of the film industry in Luxembourg and draw the public's attention to Luxembourg productions.
The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday 5 March at the Grand-Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg and will be hosted by writer, actor and director Claude Frisoni and actress Eugénie Anselin.
As in the last edition, the prizes will be awarded by the members of the "Filmakademie", 430 people from the audiovisual production sector who will vote on the following criteria www.dfilmakademie after viewing the films on the www.vodfilmprais.lu.
For this 7e 12 short films, 16 co-productions, 4 Luxembourg feature films, 9 documentaries and 3 animated films will be in the running to win a trophy. 30 professionals from the audiovisual sector have been nominated on the basis of a shortlist for the prize for the best artistic contribution and the prize for the best technical contribution.
Guy Daleiden was also delighted that "the Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis has become a key event for the sector" and praised "the close link with the Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis". Luxembourg City Film Festival which, for its 6e has selected 3 films 'made in/with Luxembourg' for the competition: 2 documentaries: "La Supplication" by Pol Cruchten (Red Lion) and "Eldorado" by Rui Eduardo Abreu, Thierry Besseling and Loïc Tanson (Samsa Film) and a co-production: "Sunset Song" by Terence Davies (Iris Productions)".
"In view of the large number of technicians and artists entered for the Best Technical Contribution and Best Artistic Contribution prizes, we decided to make a pre-selection via a committee in order to simplify the choice of voters; this was also the case for the short fiction films," said Claude Waringo, President of the Filmakademie.
The main partners of the 7e Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis will be Post, the Chamber of Commerce, the Grand Théâtre, the City of Luxembourg and the Ministry of Culture.
