The Prime Minister, Minister for Communications and the Media and Minister for Culture Xavier Bettel held a press conference to present the new virtual reality initiatives developed by Filmfong in partnership with Digital Luxembourg and the Casino Luxembourg - Contemporary Art Forum.

Following the great success last year of the first virtual reality pavilion at the Luxembourg City Film FestivalThe 3 partners have decided to repeat the experience for the 2018 edition of the festival by broadening the spectrum of programming and developing new innovative immersive projects.

For several years now, Filmfong has been supporting new writing projects and the production of works in virtual and augmented reality. At the 2018 VR Pavilion, you will be able to discover the project "Finding Jakob" by Olivier Pesch from Luxembourg, produced by Samsa Film.

By opening up new artistic spaces, the combination of creativity and new technologies is at the heart of Digital Luxembourg's transversal strategy. The Government's initiative provides significant support for a number of projects developing the digital ecosystem, and Filmfong's virtual reality initiatives are a perfect fit.

From the launch of the Luxembourg City Film Festival until 4 March, viewing stations will be set up at Casino Luxembourg in a specially dedicated area where the public can discover the many possibilities offered by this new technology thanks to the VR installations and experiences available free of charge. Festival-goers will be able to enjoy two international successes in the field of immersive experiences.

In addition, in order to increase public awareness throughout 2018, these technological installations will continue to be accessible at Casino Luxembourg, which will offer ongoing programming of films and immersive content focusing on artistic creation and innovation.

The day of 22 February will be devoted to VR day including 2 round tables for designers and professionals: "A new frontier for cultural creation?" and "The development and distribution of immersive virtual reality content in 2018 and beyond". They will be led by internationally renowned experts who will present the new VR production formats and how they are financed and distributed.
