Luxembourg co-production "Les rois du monde" wins two prizes (including the Grand Prix) at the San Sebastián International Film Festival

Luxembourg co-production Kings of the world "by Iris Productions (Nicolas Steil & Katarzyna Ozga) has just won two awards. at 70th San Sebastián International Film Festival the Grand Prix (Coquillage d'or) for Best Film and the Prix de la Critique awarded by the Spanish Film Press Association.

The year 2022 is definitely one of international success for Luxembourg cinema, which continues to rack up awards at the most prestigious international festivals and prizes. After the success of "Corsage" at Cannes, "Petit Nicolas, Qu'est-ce qu'on attend pour être heureux? at Annecy and "Blanquita" at Venice, not forgetting the César award for "Le Sommet des Dieux" earlier in the year, this new major distinction at San Sebastián adds to the incredible performances recorded this year by Luxembourg co-productions.

"Los Reyes del Mundo (Kings of the World) is the 2^e by Colombian director Laura Mora. It is a co-production between Luxembourg, Colombia, France, Mexico and Norway, supported by the Film Fund.

Sound post-production (dialogue editing, sound editing, sound effects, mix) was carried out entirely by Philophon Studios in Kehlen, while the final part of image post-production was handled by Pictastic/L'Imagerie in Differdange.

More than a film, it's a hallucinatory tale, as cruel and painful as it is infinitely beautiful. It tells the story of a group of street kids from Medellin (played by non-professional actors) who leave the metropolis to go deep into the thick Colombian forest. Their aim is to find land that belongs to one of them by inheritance. His grandmother had to flee the land because of the intense violence that ravaged the area, and now it's coming back to the boy under the terms of the public land restitution programme.

International sales of the film have been entrusted to Film Factory Entertainement.
