On Thursday 13 February, Guy Daleiden, Director of Film Fund Luxembourg, and Ainhoa Achutegui, Director of neimënster, unveiled the full programme for the Virtual Reality Pavilion, which will open its doors on Wednesday 4 March at 6.30pm in neimënster.

For the 3e This year, the Film Fund is devoting an entire pavilion to virtual reality, in collaboration with PHI Montréal and with the support of Digital Luxembourg and Cargolux as part of the 10e edition of the Luxembourg City Film Festival.

Buoyed by the success of previous editions, the Pavilion will be moving to neimënster, in the heart of the capital's old quarters, with a brand new programme developed for the occasion in close collaboration with PHI, Montreal's multidisciplinary cultural and artistic hub.

From 5 to 15 March, no fewer than 18 XR contents will take over the walls of neimënster, which for the duration of the festival will become the centre of virtual reality. The general public will be able to discover a selection of innovative and promising immersive works, including interactive experiences, a selection of films, an installation using A.I. (artificial intelligence) and a focus on works by the Atlas V production company, a pioneer in VR creation.

Over the past few years, new realities have been growing at a phenomenal rate, and new technologies applied to audiovisual creation are booming around the world. Luxembourg is no exception to this trend, and the Film Fund is actively supporting the production of such content. As proof of this, two Luxembourg co-productions by a_BAHN will be on show at Pavillon 2020: Cosmos within us and 7 Lives, but also 2 experiments run by Luxembourgers: Sublimation (by the duo Markiewicz and Piron) and Forest Lounge (by Benigno Perez).

Also worth noting is VR Day on Friday 6 March in Neimënster, a professional day of case studies and discussions on new realities, bringing together international specialists to look at the challenges and new developments facing the XR industry today.

Finally, for the first time, a competition devoted to immersive creations will be offered by the Luxembourg City Film Festival, which will award - via an international jury made up of 3 leading experts - a prize of 4,000 euros to the best work in the selection.
