Three Luxembourg co-productions selected at the 82nd Venice Film Festival
The Grand Duchy's cinema will once again be in the spotlight at the 82ᵉ edition of the Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica di Venezia, the prestigious Venice International Film Festivalone of the oldest and most renowned film festivals in the world. The event, which will be held from 27 August to 6 September 2025This year three Luxembourg co-productionsselected in two distinct categoriesonce again demonstrating the dynamism and international influence of Luxembourg cinema.
Official Selection - Orizzonti
Big Skyby Akihiro Hata, co-produced with France via Les Films Fauves (Gilles Chanial), features in the renowned Orizzonti. This competitive section showcases new trends in world cinema and awards a number of prestigious prizes. The film benefits from a significant Luxembourg contribution, both artistically and technically: Luxembourg actors Sophie Mousel and Hervé Sogne feature in the cast, and a large part of the filming took place in the Filmland studios in Kehlen with the participation of many local technicians.
Venice Immersive - VR Competition
Two immersive works co-produced in Luxembourg will take part in the section Venice Immersivededicated to the competition of virtual reality projects and immersive experiences.
- The Great Escapedirected by Joren Vandenbroucke, is a co-production between a_BAHN Luxembourg (Marion Guth, François Le Gall) and Belgium. The VR experience was developed in close collaboration with the Velvet Flare studio in Oberkorn, in particular its animation and development teams.
- A Long Goodbye, a VR work by Kate Voet and Victor Maes, is a co-production between Tarantula Luxembourg (Donato Rotunno), Belgium and the Netherlands. The 2D/3D animation is again produced by Velvet Flare, under the direction of Damiano Picci.
