François Biltgen, Minister of Communications visited the Cannes Film Market and paid a visit to the Luxembourg Pavilion where he met with the local professionals.
Further to the first annual think tank for Luxembourg’s film industry, which were held on May 3rd 2010, Minister Biltgen met the professionals again for a follow up meeting at the Luxembourg Pavilion.
The discussions turned mainly around the national and international promotion of Luxembourg films, the script and development financial aid, the BTS programm for animation, the selective aid system as well as the new studio project in Dudelange.
Minister Biltgen, together with Octavie Modert, Minister of Culture, will, in more detail, present the outcome of the think tank as well as the 2009 annual report during a press conference before summer.
Furthermore, the Luxembourg coproduction ILLEGAL directed by Olivier Masset-Depasse and coproduced by Nicolas Steil for IRIS Productions) was screened last night at the DIRECTOR’S FORTNIGHT (Quinzaine des réalisateurs).
The film was very well received by both press and the public! The film will come out in theaters at the beginning of October.
ILLEGAL was shot almost entirely in Luxembourg with many local technicians. Key Luxembourg Crew:

PLOT. Tania and her 14-year-old son Ivan have been illegal Russian immigrants in Belgium for eight years now. Constantly on her guard, Tania fears police identity checks. One day she is arrested. Mother and son are separated. Tania is placed in a detention center. She stops at nothing to find Ivan but won’t escape the threat of expulsion.
