Jacopo Armani is a movie/TV director and screenwriter who is specialised in developing and directing new and existing IPs, short films, TV shows and promotional clips. Animation is his preferred media of expression, although he enjoys mixing it up with live-action, photography and other medias, to get fresher perspectives. Jacopo’s aim is to collaborate in projects with a thought-provoking message and an artistic flair.

BAKHTI Chérifa

Biographie

Cherifa Bakhti is a Franco-Algerian director who grew up and studied in Dijon, France. Passionate about photography and art in general, she worked there for 10 years.

In 2000, she moves to Luxembourg where she begins her career in animation. After holding various technical positions (character modeling, character animation, compositing and visual effects…), she co-directs her first 52X7’ series Henrietta with Dieter Riepenhausen in 2016. The Henrietta project was nominated for the GOLDEN SPARROW in the "TV series animation" category with the episode "Henrietta is sick".

In 2021, she continues working on a new series titled "Dino Mite" as a director on 13 episodes. At the same time, she holds the position of director on the first developments around the Newtons series.

Biographie

Andy Bausch was born on April 12, 1959 in Dudelange, Luxembourg. 

After studying painting and photography, he then found his way in the movie industry as an actor, director and writer. He is known for A Wopbobaloobop a Lopbamboom (1989), Rusty Boys (2017) and Ex und hopp – Ein böses Spiel um Liebe, Geld und Bier (1991). 

He is the first Luxembourg-based director who made the leap into the international film business. His film Le Club des Chômeurs was a huge success in Luxembourg.

Well-know for his documentaries, his last piece "Lost in the 80s" (2019), shows his personality through the camera.

Biographie

Thierry Besseling and Loïc Tanson have been working together for seven years. In 2010 they directed their first short film in Luxembourg: Laaf. Three years later, they shot Le Faux Départ in Burkina Faso. Eldorado, which they co-directed with Rui Abreu and which tells the story of four Lusophone immigrants whose hopes and disillusions collide over a period of three years, has been advertised in cinemas throughout the country since the 16th March. The duos most recent work includes the 2017 short film named Sur le fil.

Biographie

Nicolas Blies and Stéphane Hueber-Blies (the Blies brothers) are two filmmakers and digital artists who create their work together. In 2015, they conceptualized the documentary music transmedia Soundhunters in co-production with ARTE. The transmedia was released in 2015 in collaboration with many international artists including Jean Michel Jarre, Simonne Jones or Blixa Bargeld. They were invited to present their work at Lincoln Center during the New York Film Festival. The project was placed under the patronage of UNESCO in 2016. In 2019, they wrote and directed Zero Impunity (Thessaloniki IFF, Annecy IFF, Moscow IFF, Mostra de Sao Paulo, Guadalajara IFF, Palm Springs IFF…). The film was nominated for the Trophées Francophones du Cinéma. In 2021, they decided to devote themselves exclusively to a more intimate work about their childhood traumas and the intergenerational traumas that inhabit their family history. They are currently developing an immersive work entitled Ceci est mon coeur in co-production with CENTRE PHI (Montreal) and their first feature film Caravanes.

In 2020, the Blies brothers are members of the feature film jury in the "Contrechamp" section of the 44th Annecy International Animation Film Festival. In 2018, Nicolas Blies is a member of the "National Documentary" section jury and Stéphane Hueber-Blies is a member and president of the "Innovation Award" section at the 31st Biarritz International Audiovisual Production Festival (FIPA).

Biographie

Pol Cruchten was born on the 30th July 1963 in Pétange, Luxembourg.

He is an emblematic figure and connoisseur of cinematography, a pioneer of the Luxembourgish cinema who contributed to the development of the film heritage. He studied at the ESC (Ecole supérieure d’études cinématographiques) in Paris.

As a producer and director, he is known for Voices from Chernobyl (2016), Boys on the Run (2001) and mainly Hochzaïtsnuecht (1992) which has been selected at the Cannes Film Festival in 1992 in the Un Certain Regard section. In 2005, he directed Perl oder Pica, based on a novel by the Luxembourgish author Jhemp Hoscheit. He died on July 3, 2019 in La Rochelle, Charente-Maritime, France.

Enzo d’Alo is a director, screenwriter and musician. He was born 1953 in Naples and is one of the leading exponents of European animation.
He is one of a few European authors to have successfully released five feature animated films around the world.
Since 1980, he has directed several films and videos, not only in animation but also in TV that have led to numerous, prestigious national and international awards at film festivals.
He is mainly known for Pipì, Pupù & Rosemary (2012), Pinocchio (2013) and The Prince of the City of Sands (2019).

Jeff Desom is a writer, film director and visual effects artist. After his graduation at the Arts Institute at Bournemouth (UK), where he had specialized in directing, he created a number of outstanding works, among others the music videos Morgenrot and The Key. Combining live-action, found footage and digital effects, his work has been selected and awarded at a number of festivals around the world. He is mainly known for The Plot Spoiler (2006) a no-budget film awarded for the best Luxembourgish short film in 2007, X on a Map (2009) selected at the 31st Moscow International Film Festival and Rear Window (2012) which received the Golden Nica Award of the Ars Electronica.He works between Luxembourg and Los Angeles.

Biographie

Born in Alexandria (Egypt), Ady has spent most of his childhood between the UAE, UK and Luxembourg. In 2008, his first feature film as a producer, DIVIZIONZ was selected at the Berlin International Film Festival and was selected at over 100 festivals and sold in more than 30 territories. In 2010, he directed the award-winning short films THE NOTORIOUS ROAD… and GOD’S HAND. In 2014, he completed his first feature directorial effort THE NOTORIOUS GUYS, that he produced, directed and successfully distributed in French-speaking countries. He has recently completed his second feature film SAWAH, which will be released internationally in 2019. Ady is also a Berlinale Talents as well as an EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneur) alumni.

Munich-based Alexandre Espigares was born in Luxembourg to Spanish-Luxembourgish parents. In 2000, he finished his studies in animation at the Lycée Technique des Arts et Métiers in Luxembourg and has been working in computer animation since. Internationally, he has taken part in films such as, “9”, and “Iron Man 3”. As a co-director of “Mr Hublot” he won the Oscar for best animated short in 2014. His latest release includes an animation feature film called ‘White Fang’.

Biographie

Luc Feit, born on June 28, 1962 in Luxembourg, is an actor and film director.

After completing his training at the School of Theatre in Stuttgart, Luc Feit went on to work at the Kapuzinertheater in Luxembourg and on foreign stages such as the Volksbühne Berlin or the Théâtre national de la Colline in Paris.

He then worked in theatre, cinema and film domains in Germany and Luxembourg. Luc Feit has been a cinema film-maker of the likes of directors Nicolas Schilling, Pol Cruchten, Christophe Wagner and Andy Bausch.  He is an actor and director known for The Monuments Men (2014), Ibijazi (2012) and Die Reise das Land (1987).

This is a collection of 50 German television films (as of 2015) and a selection of theatrical productions from the year before. He has also directed three short films, as well as the feature-length film De Buttëk (2019).

Biographie

Born in Luxembourg (November 25, 1977), Max Jacoby is a Luxembourgish film director and screenwriter. He studied at the London Film School where he graduated in 2001 with his short film Babysitting. In 2003 he made a short film called The Lodge, with Eve Best in the lead role. His next film, Butterflies, was adapted from a short story by English author Ian McEwan and won, among others, the Prix UIP for ‘Best European Short Film’ at the 62nd Venice International Film Festival. Butterflies was also nominated for the 2005 European Film Awards.

His first feature film Dust premiered at the Busan Film Festival and his second film, Peitruss was released in 2019. In-between features, he indulges in his lens fetish by shooting documentaries, shorts and commercials.

Félix Koch, born in 1980 in Luxembourg, worked as an assistant director and unit manager for Michael Bully Herbig and Tommy Krappweis. He later got engaged as a creative and art director by KIKA, the children’s channel of ARD/ZDF, to design the merchandising products of Bernd das Brot. 

In 2006, Félix began his film studies at the HFF “Konrad Wolf” in Potsdam-Babelsberg, Germany. His short films “Ravioli Knights” (2009) and “Topper won’t give up” (2010) were screened at different A-Festivals in Germany and France. His graduation film “You missed Sonja” (2012) is based on Stephen King’s Dollar Babies and was nominated for the prestigious »First Steps Award«. 
Félix’ first feature film “Superjhemp Retörns” (2018) – a movie featuring a superhero struggling with his midlife crisis – became the most successful Luxembourgish film of all time and with over 55.000 spectators Luxembourg’s box-office film of the year.

Claude Lahr was born on the 6th February 1962 in Luxembourg and is a Luxembourgish film director.

After studying at the Institut national supérieur des Arts du Spectacle (INSAS) in Brussels and getting a diploma of Réalisation et Production en Cinéma, he began working on features and documentaries.

Claude Lahr gained recognition after having directed two historic feature documentaries named Stol and Heim ins Reich. 

His recent work includes directing episodes for the Luxembourgish series named Weemseesdet (2011) and Routwäissgro (2015 & 2016).

Karolina Markiewicz was born 1976 in Luxembourg and studied political science, philosophy and theatre. She works as a film and theatre director.

As a duo with Pascal Piron, they directed documentaries such as Les Formidables (2014),  Mos Stellarium (2015) which were shown at different festivals. Furthermore, a series of short films entitled Side-Effects of Reality, were shown in a solo exhibition at Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain in Luxembourg (2016), at Rencontres Internationales in Paris (2017) and Argos Centre for Art and Media in Brussels (2017). Their most recent work includes The Living Wintesses (2020).

Séan McCormack was born in Ireland and grew up in Luxembourg, where he started drawing, reading comics and getting into art and film.
After going to a high school specialized in art, he graduated from the Arts University Bournemouth with a Bachelor’s degree in Animation Production in 2008.
He has since mostly worked in Luxembourg at Fabrique d’Images as 2D Animator, 3D Animator, Storyboarder, Animation Director and Director.
He co-directed his first feature film named Oops! Noah is gone (2015) with Tobias Genkel. The same year, he directed and award-winning short, The Light Eater that got selected for the César award’s Les Nuits en Or.

On Luis and the Aliens, in Luxfilmfest 2018’s Young Audiences programme, he worked as aco-writer and co-director.

Geneviève Mersch born in 1963, is a film director and screenwriter, often distinguished with her short films and documentaries. In 2003, she directed the feature film I always wanted to be a Saint which was selected to represent Luxembourg at the Oscars 2004 in the category of Best foreign film. The film received the Golden Zenith for Best First Feature film at the Montreal World Film Festival and was named the best Luxembourgish feature film by the Fimpräis in 2003. In 2007, Mersch received the prize for best documentary for Plein d’essence at the Luxembourg Film Awards.

Biographie

Federico Milella is an Italian who was born in Luxembourg in 1977.
In the late 1990s, he has attended art schools in Belgium, England and Spain. He has since worked as an art teacher, cameraman, comic book artist, storyboarder, scriptwriter and animator, building up experience with advertising agencies and animation studios across Europe. In 2009, he joined the team of La Fabrique d’Images where he did direct Percy’s Tiger Tales (2014, 52 episodes), Ziggy & The Zoo Tram (2017, 26 episodes) and worked on many other 2D & 3D animated TV series.
He has recently co-directed the movie Bayala and he is currently working on a TV show called Ice Breakers and my 2nd feature movie called The Defects.

Biographie

Bady Mink was born in Luxembourg and works as an artist, director and filmmaker in Vienna and Luxembourg where she explores the field of tension between film and the fine arts.

She studied sculpture at Vienna’s Academy of Fine Arts and experimental film at the University of Applied Arts. Her work crosses the borders between the various artistic disciplines and is presented in movie theaters, in museums, galleries, public spaces and on the world wide web.

The films she directed and produced have been screened at over 900 international film festivals, including the festivals of Cannes, Berlin and Toronto. She also received various awards and special mentions in many countries, among them the Award for the Cinema of the Future at Pesaro 2003 (for In the Beginning was the Eye). Her recent work includes the short film documentary MappaMundi, released in 2017.

Jacques Molitor was born in Luxembourg on the 15th of February 1980.

After two years of medical studies, he enrolled at IAD("Institut des Arts de Diffusion", Belgium) to pursue the craft of film.

In 2008, Jacques co-wrote (with Xavier Seron) and directed his first professional short WITH THE DUST ("En compagnie de la poussière"). This story of a failed gay romance, exploring the intersection of love and death, was screened in the official short competition at LOCARNO.
His third short film BONOBO (2009), a portrait of a man’s self-destruction, shot on 35mm, was broadcast on channel France 2. 

In 2015, Jacques released his first fiction feature MAMMEJONG, a drama about a man-child who tries to sever the unhealthy ties that bind him to his mother to win the heart of a troubled young woman.

His most recent project is the 40-minute documentary LISTEN, shot in Sénégal and Guinea-Bissau.

Biographie

Fred Neuen studied Applied Communication and majored in Advertising at IHECS in Belgium from 1996 until 2001. He went on to become Head of Fiction and Cinema at Tango TV from 2001 until 2003. Between 2003 and 2008, Fred was a freelance director and editor in which time he completed two fully funded short films called, Trinity and Vault.

In 2007 he launched Radar Collective with fellow director, Ben Andrews, and worked on a number of music videos and documentaries. He also co-created the Web TV station Eveant.com, a concept that was eventually sold to RTL Group.

After shooting a documentary in China and Japan with Ben Andrews in October 2010, the decision to turn Radar into a production company was made. They joined forces with Fred B, Tim and Patrick, and the rest, as they say, is history. Fred’s fake trailer, Bikini Blitzkrieg, was premiered at the launch of the company in November 2011.
Fred works as both director and producer at Radar.

DÉSIRÉE NOSBUSCH has been a successful and internationally acclaimed actress and television host for over 30 years.

Born in Luxembourg, she started her career hosting a radio show for Radio Luxembourg at the age of 12. At the age of 14 she became the first youth television host in German television history for the network ZDF.
In 1981, Désirée Nosbusch had her acting debut in Nach Mitternacht a feature film adaptation of the fiction novel by Irmgard Keun. Hence she was accepted at the renowned Academy of Performing Arts HB-Studios by Uta Hagen and Herbert Berghof in New York.
After her return, Désirée Nosbusch hosted the 1984 Grand Prix d’Eurovision de la Chanson in Luxembourg and emerged over night into a pan-European television star. The show counted over 500 million viewers worldwide. This was followed by appearances at big events and galas throughout Europe.
In 1986 the Taviani Brothers discovered Désirée Nosbusch in Rome for the part of Mabel in their feature film Good Morning Babylon, co-starring Greta Scacchi and Joaquim de Almeida, which opened at the Cannes Film Festival in 1987.

She has since appeared in over 60 movies internationally. Since 2018 she is starring as Cathrin Blake in the ARD-Degeto series The Irish Crime Story that is set in Galway, Ireland.
2019 Désirée Nosbusch was awarded the prestigious Grimme Award for BEST ACTRESS for her portrayal of Christelle LeBlanc in the highly acclaimed international miniseries BAD BANKS directed by Christian Schwochow.
In 2003 Désirée Nosbusch changed course after successfully accomplishing a Masters Degree in directing and film production at UCLA in Los Angeles. Her short film Ice Cream Sunday starring Tippi Hedren, which she wrote and directed, received the Gold Award for Best short Direction at the World Festival Houston and the Gold Award for Best Short Drama at the Fargo Film Festival.

In 2022 she wrapped principal photography on her debut fiction feature film, an adaptation of the play Gift/Poison by Lot Vekemans, starring Tim Roth and Trine Dyrholm.

Willy Perelsztejn was born in 1961 in the capital of Belgium, Brussels. He graduated from the ULB in Brussels in law and tax law. In 1987, he founded Les Films de la Mémoire with his sister Diane. From 1979 t0 1994, he was a legal consultant for Kredietrust before becoming a full-time film producer. He is also the founder and manager of Nowhere Land Productions in Lxuembourg where he is best known for producing the documentary features “Heim ins Reich” and “Luxembourg, USA”. Willy Perelsztejn directed “Sois un Mensch, mon fils” (2007).

He also worked on the documentary “Ashcan” (coproduced with the Centre national de l’audiovisuel) about the secret prisoner-of-war camp in Mondorf-les-Bains which served from May to August 1945 as an interrogation center for the most prominent surviving Nazi leaders.

Olivier Pesch is a Luxembourgish stop motion specialist. Since 2004, he works mostly abroad where he designs and builds film sets and puppets for films, and was hired as set dresser, animator and location scout for several productions. In 2007, he won the Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis, as best newcomer for his first short film, Le gardien du nid (2006), produced by Samsa Film. In 2012, he directed the animation short film named Emilie.

Pascal Piron was born 1981 in Luxembourg, where he currently lives and works. He studied visual arts and works as an artist and film director. In 2013, he started cooperating and working as a duo with Karolina Markiewicz.

Their cooperation began in 2013 and allowed Pascal Piron to move away from painting and look at the image from a different angle, not only with regard to the two-dimensional perspective, but also in view of time and space. Together, they directed the documentaries Les Formidables (2014),  Mos Stellarium (2015) which were shown at different festivals. The most recent works includes series of short films entitled Side-Effects of Reality, shown in a solo exhibition at Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain in Luxembourg (2016), at Rencontres Internationales in Paris (2017) and Argos Centre for Art and Media in Brussels (2017).

Pasha Rafiy is a film director and photographer. He was born 1980 in Tehran, Iran and moved to Luxembourg in 1985. In 2008, he graduated from the University of Vienna. He currently lives in Vienna where he works as a creative director for the Austrian newspaper “Die Presse”. He has won several international awards for Print Ideas, and his photographs are part of the collection of the Musée d’Art Moderne in Luxembourg (MUDAM). “Foreign Affairs” (2015) was his first feature-length documentary.

Donato Rotunno est né à Luxembourg en 1966 et est diplômé de l’IAD en Belgique en 1992. Il a fondé Tarantula Luxembourg en 1995, avec laquelle il a produit plus de 50 longs-métrages depuis. 

Sa carrière de réalisateur a commencé avec son film de fin d’études Nebbiolo Rosso et s’est développée avec des documentaires sur des sujets spécifiques au Luxembourg, dont l’immigration (Terra Mia Terra NostraLes Mesures du rectangle), la société multiculturelle (Blà Blä Blá); des films traitant de la politique comme André et les voix dissidentes, ou bien de la relation entre l’art contemporain et les films à travers Making of a pictureLandscape with a corpse ou Dreams have a language

Son premier film de fiction, In a Dark Place a remporté le prix de la meilleure contribution artistique au Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis en 2007. Son second film, Baby(a)lone, adapté du roman « Amok » de Tullio Forgiarini, fut sélectionné dans de nombreux festivals internationaux et choisi pour représenter le Luxembourg aux 88ème Academy Awards pour le meilleur film étranger. Io sto bene, son troisième film, a eu sa première mondial au Festival Alice nella cita à Rome en 2020 et a aussi été choisi pour représenter le Luxembourg aux Academy Awards pour le meilleur film étranger en 2021. Aujourd’hui, il retourne au documentaire avec La Fourchette à gauche pour se pencher sur le Cercle Culturel Curiel et son influence sur la vie politique et culturelle au Luxembourg.

SCHILTZ Anne

Biographie

Born in Luxembourg in 1975, Anne Schiltz studied anthropology and cognitive sciences. From 2005 to 2008 she worked as a cultural project coordinator (Luxembourg-Sibiu, European Capitals of Culture 2007); in 2010 she curated an international exhibition at the Casino-Forum d’Art contemporain in Luxembourg. After her PhD in anthropology and several years of work in Romania, she started directing.
Her most recent work includes directing epsiodes for the Luxembourgish serie ‘routwäissgro’ and her documentary named ‘E Futtballspill am Schnei’.

Anne Schroder is a producer and director in Luxembourg well-known for her documentaries such as "Histoire(s) de jeunesse(s)" (Youth stories) and "Histoire(s) de Femme(s)" (Women stories) (2018).

Her recent work concentrates on the history of rising rights and emancipation for women with interviews of women of all ages. She embodies a strong voice for women and feminism with a contribution to the audiovisual industry.

SCHROEDER Laura

Biographie

Born in Luxembourg, Laura graduated with a Master in Film Studies at the University of Paris 1 – Sorbonne and a Postgraduate Diploma in Directing at the National Film and Television School, London.

After her studies, she writes and directs two short films Senteurs (2008) and Double Saut (2011), both screened in many festivals worldwide.

She later on directs two episodes of the sitcom Comeback and a documentary for the series routwaïssgro for Luxembourgish TV.

In 2017, Laura’s first personal feature Barrage,  has its world premiere at the Forum section of the Berlinale. After travelling festivals worldwide and being released in many countries, the film gets chosen to represent Luxembourg at the Oscars 2018 for Best Foreign Film.

Biographie

Julie Schroell is a film director and artist working in Berlin and Luxembourg. Julie has a degree in contemporary history and screenplay writing from the ULB in Brussel.

Since 2014, she has also been a producer at Loufok Productions, a film company specialized in documentary film production. She has directed several documentaries, reports, music videos and institutional films. She has also produced a short fiction film and developed many video projections for theatre plays.

 In 2007, she directed the documentary “E stoarkt Stéck Minett100 years of Youth in Esch, which won the prize for best photography at the “Memorimages” Festival in Spain. She is also known for De Bauereblues (2011), Mister Rocket (and his magnetic friends) (2015) which is her first fictional short film and for the documentary serie, routwaïssgro (2015).

Her last project “River Tales” released in 2020 show again her skills to present true reality thanks to documentaries.

Biographie

Jean-Louis Schuller is a director and cinematographer born in Luxembourg with experience in feature films, TV, commercials and music promotions. He completed a BA in Cinematography at the IAD in Brussels before moving to London, where he graduated from the MA course in Cinematography at the National Film and Television School (NFTS) in 2008. His documentary “High/Low” was awarded “Best Documentary” at the 2012 Luxembourg Film Prize whereas “Chungking Dream” was featured in the Clermont-Ferrand film festival and acquired by the MUDAM Collection.

Biographie

Marco Serafini was born in Luxembourg. His mentor during his studies at the HFF in Munich was the German-American director Douglas Sirk. He directed successful series such as „Inspector Rex", "Rechtsanwältin Lisa Falk’, ‘SZ Arche Noah‘, ‘Im besten Alter’ and many others.

The romantic series Rosamunde Pilcher and lnga Lindström bear his signature as well as crime and detective series ‘Polizeiruf’ and ‘Schwarz-Rot-Gold’. Marco Serafini has been involved in several co-productions, with England, France, ltaly, USA and China (among others ‘The Mystery of Villa Sabrina’, ‘ Love in Venice’, ‘Un Amour en Camargue’ and among others ‘House of Harmony’ with Maggie Q.).

In ltaly he also directed the TV drama ‘II Mistero del Lago’ which received over 80 million viewers, the highest audience share for a TV drama in Latin-speaking countries. He also directed an episode of Ispettore Sarti and three seasons of Inspector Rex. For cinema he wrote “Die Spinnen” directed by Pal Erdösz, directed “Il cinema non si ferma” in 2020 and “Toy Gun” in collaboration with Filmfund Luxemburg.

Marco Serafini currently lives in Bracciano near Rome in ltaly and Munich in Germany and is involved in the production companies Cinetel (Luxembourg), HS Media (Bracciano-Rome) and Delta Due Media (Rome).

Biographie

After starting as a journalist in the written press, radio and television, Nicolas Steil, producer and director, founded his production company, Iris Productions S.A., in Luxembourg in 1986. As of yet, he has produced or coproduced more than fifty fiction, animation and documentary feature films or international series in French, English, German or Luxemburgish.

When he was working at RTL Radio & Television he directed more than hundred hours of programming: news & current affairs, documentaries and game shows.

He staged five theater plays including the works of Ariel Dorfman,Woody Allen, Carles Battle Jordà and Jean-Louis Schlesser. His first feature film as a director was Réfractaire (The Undercover War) which he co-wrote and co-produced. The film won several prizes in international film festivals throughout the world and represented Luxembourg in the 2009 Best Foreign Film Academy Award race. In 2021, he directed his second feature film, Le Chemin du Bonheur, depicting the story of hidden child’s resilience. Starring Simon Abkarian, Pascale Arbillot, André Jung, Michel Vuillermoz, Eric Caravaca, Brigitte Fossey, Mathilda May amongst others, the film was selected at this stage at more than thirty internationals festivals winning 6 awards.

Loïc Tanson graduated from the Europen Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual in 2005. He has co-written and co-directed 3 short films with Thierry Besseling : Laaf, Le Faux Départ and Sur le Fil. In 2016, Eldorado, which is the result of a collaboration with Rui Eduardo Abreu and Thierry Besseling is released in cinemas. This feature-documentary tells the story of hopes and disillusionment of four Portuguese-speaking immigrants from the new generation. He is currently writing his first feature-length fiction with screenwriter Frédéric Zeimet and producer Claude Waringo from Samsa Film.

Yann Tonnar was born on July 4th in 1975, Luxembourg. He is a producer and director known for Weilerbach (2008) and mainly, the documentary TV series “routwäissgro” (2015)  for RTL TV Lëtzebuerg, a 24-episode half-hour series of observational documentary involving 20 different directors. After the success of the first two seasons, a third season is currently in production. He is also the director of many feature-length documentaries and music videos, and has collaborated on numerous video projects for theatre and contemporary art spaces. He is the general secretary of the Luxembourgish association of film directors and scriptwriters (LARS) since 2010.

Govinda Van Maele was born in Luxembourg in 1983, as a son of Sri Lankan‑Belgian parents. He started making films in his teens and was hired to work in the local film industry after graduating high school. His directorial credits include the shorts Josh (2007), A Day in the Open (2012), and You Go Ahead (2013), as well as the documentary We Might As Well Fail (2011). He has worked as a curator of exploitation cinema at the Cinémathèque de la Ville de Luxembourg. He lives between Turkey and Luxembourg.

Graduate from INSAS film school in Brussels, Luxembourgish director Christophe Wagner has directed several documentaries on social issues in Luxembourg. In 2011, he directed his first feature “Doudege Wénkel”, shown at several international festivals and to big success in Luxembourg. His second feature “Eng Nei Zäit” was also a critically acclaimed success, selected for the competition at the Max Ophüls Film Festival in Saarbrücken and receiving the Best Director Award at the Trophées Francophones in Beirut in 2016.

Biographie

Born in France in 1975, Laurent Witz attended the Metz Fine Arts Institute in France where he obtained his diploma with honors. 

He self-trained in animation and 3D creation in parallel to his Fine Art studies. He made four animated short films between 1997 and 1998. His career then began to take off and he worked in various studios based in France and Luxembourg on short films, series and feature length films first as an Animator, then as Art Director, Assistant Director, Supervisor or Director.

With ZEILT productions and WATT frame, he hoped to work on projects which were ambitious from an artistic and technical point of view, a dream that came true in 2014 with his film “Mr Hublot”, winner of the Oscar 2013 for Best Animated Short Film. Laurent directed, wrote and produced the film.

His recent work includes the 2019 serie Barababor.
